Warning lights are easy to ignore when the car seems to be running fine. But spring is a good time to take stock of anything that's been lit up on your dash — because what felt manageable in mild winter temps can escalate fast when Tennessee heat arrives. Here are the ones we see most often this time of year and what they typically mean: Oil pressure light. If this comes on while driving, pull over as soon as it's safe. Low oil pressure is one of the fastest ways to cause serious engine damage. It could mean you're low on oil, have a leak, or your oil pump is struggling. Check engine light. This one covers a wide range of issues, from something as simple as a loose gas cap to more serious emissions or engine problems. A solid light is worth checking soon. A flashing check engine light means pull over — something is actively wrong. TPMS light (tire pressure). With spring temperature swings, tire pressure fluctuates. If this light is on, check all four tires — one or more may be significantly underinflated. Battery light. If this comes on while driving, your charging system isn't keeping up. It could be the battery, the alternator, or a connection issue. Don't ignore it — this one can leave you stranded. Temperature warning. Your engine is running hot. Pull over, let it cool, and check coolant levels before driving further. At Lubrication Corner in Franklin, we can read your diagnostic codes and help you understand what's going on. Don't drive into spring with lights you've been meaning to address. Come see us.
